Cathay Bank was founded in 1962 in Los Angeles, California to serve the financial needs of the Chinese community at the time. It was the first Chinese-American bank established in the States and has expanded to become a publicly traded financial institution. The company's motto is "An Open Door for All." The bank is located next to a string of retail shops and restaurants in the heart of Little India. There is a parking lot exclusive to banking customers in the back.
