Since 1959, Mario and Rosalinda Tejada have run Mario's, making it one of Berkeley's -- if not the Bay Area's -- oldest Mexican restaurants. Mario's serves authentic Mexican in a family- and student-friendly environment. Its menu features classic dishes, from tacos to enchiladas to tostadas, and the restaurant also has about a dozen dinner combinations, as well as deals on large party take-out orders (for college events, etc.). The main dining room of Mario's is open and airy, while the backyard also has a small dining area. Beer and wine are served, and the Cal1 card is honored.
