Sam's Italian Sandwich Co. is located in the historic bus depot at Howard Ave. and California Dr. It was founded in 1972, and has been serving its signature meat sandwiches (like the Sam's Special of mortadella, ham, chopped ham, cheese, cooked salami, and dry salami) ever since. It's a well-known local meeting spot with a fun atmosphere and lots of history. Manager, Rino Betti, grew up in Burlingame and has been in business in the town for decades.  Indoors, Sam's is cool and quiet, with pictures of old time Burlingame decorating the walls. Outside, there is plenty of space for an al fresco lunch with seating at six picnic tables.
