Hometown Chinese Restaurant is widely held to be the best Chinese food in Davis. It offers both authentic and Americanized dishes, and while having recently moved to a much larger venue in downtown Davis, it still offers only counter service. During lunch, much of the food is premade and on display in order to expedite service for the impatient lunch crowd. Dinner service is all made-to-order, and because of the very small kitchen staff (one of the owners and a single helper), waiting times for food is often quite lengthy.
