One of a handful of small, family-run wineries along Limerick Lane, Christie Estate produces all estate wines, grown either on this Russian River Valley acreage or its Dry Creek Valley lot. It's a rustic, family-oriented place to learn firsthand about winemaking. In addition to custom tastings and tours by appointment, the Aiken family offers the chance to bottle one's own barrel, which customers and friends can label and cap at the facility—producing 24 cases per barrel.
The winemaker is owner Steve Aitken, who purchased the Dry Creek property in 1981 and added Russian River acreage in 1997 to start his own winery. He specializes in the red wine varietals that favor these appellations. Christie Estate claims to be the only domestic grower and producer of prosecco, the Italian sparkling wine.
