Other Details:
The Red Kettle was built in the early 1920’s as an ice cream, candy, and soda shop cafe. In the late 1940’s it was renamed the Coffee Cup. After being purchased and remodeled by Jan Boss it reopened as Jan’s Red Kettle in January 1979. Joann Canetti became the new owner in 2002 and renamed it JC’s Red Kettle. Then in 2006 the Stewart Family purchased JC’s Red Kettle and now owns and operates it as the Red Kettle. Being the oldest running café on the hill, the Red Kettle has seen its fair share of famous persons over the years like a regular John Wayne, who filmed all over the hill and Elvis Presley who made Kid Galahad here on the hill. In 2012 many buildings in town were designated for a historic status district and the Red Kettle is one of these properties in the newly formed Idyllwild Historic District. Today the Stewart Family continues to keep up the long time tradition of offering delicious meals and friendly service at affordable prices at the Red Kettle. We welcome you and sincerely hope you have an enjoyable dining experience. We want The Red Kettle to become a “must return stop” when visiting Idyllwild, as it has become for so many over the decades. Please share any old photos or memories of your past visits to The Red Kettle to our email comments@redkettleinc.com. If this is your first visit, we look forward to a long and continuing friendship!
