Semifreddi's started right here in Kensington in this 450-square-foot space in 1984. Now that Semifreddi's has become a regional artisan bread giant and its baking operations have moved to a large facility in Alameda, the original Kensington home serves as a small cafe and retail outlet for Semifreddi's baked goods, which can be purchased here or at a variety of other locations. 1, in El Cerrito, boasts of French toast made with Semifreddi's popular cinnamon challah bread. 1 carries their breakfast scones. Here, you can also order sandwiches for consumption. Bread offerings range from sourdough to loaves, croutons and scones. Sandwiches include pesto, turkey and more.
