This storefront gourmet deli is located along La Jolla's active Girard Avenue artery. There are a few outside tables in the front, as well as generous seating inside for smaller groups or those just popping in to grab a quick bite. The ambience is a casual deli/cafe style with menus scrawled on chalkboards behind the main counter.
The food and drink selection is varied, with an emphasis on Italian home cooking and gourmet to-go options. Customers can browse the deli cases for items like frittata, caprese stacks, and chicken salad, or order sandwiches and other dishes from the menu. Sorella also also supplies the lunches for two local elementary schools and offers a "check-off" menu option that will feed a family of four. If you like the food here but want more of a sit-down meal, Sorella's owner also operates La Taverna--an intimate Italian restaurant just around the corner on Silverado Street.
