Le Mandarette has been a mainstay of its restaurant-heavy shopping center at La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard since 1998. It specializes in natural, fresh and, most importantly, healthy Chinese cuisine. If you're looking to dine in, though, the pickings are slim; walk inside and you've literally entered the restaurant's kitchen. Instead, order inside and take your meal outside, where you'll find two picnic tables at which to dine. Better yet, get the food to go or order free delivery with a $12 minimum order. All food is MSG-free, and dishes aren't doused in sauces. House favorites include the salt-and-pepper shrimp, which uses large, jumbo-style shrimp, or the none-too-greasy tossed soft noodles.
