Other Details:
The Midnight Mission is one of the oldest human services organizations in the Los Angeles region. Centered in the skid row area of downtown Los Angeles, the mission runs a direct service operation that focuses on the homeless. In addition to poverty and alcoholism programs, the mission staff provides support and education classes that deal with other needs of the homeless, including the lack of education, absence of affordable housing, unreliable job skills, broken homes, governmental policy changes and budget cuts. The mission s family housing program is designed to meet the needs of families and located in a residential community away from downtown. The facility provides one- to three- bedroom apartments and a child-friendly play area. In addition, the Midnight Mission staffs the gated property with security personnel and targets domestic violence issues, child care support, education and employment support programs, substance abuse recovery and life-skills management classes.
