Yoshi s started in 1973 as a small, North Berkeley sushi bar. Today, it is a more than 300-seat jazz club that features advanced sound systems. Its restaurant and lounge can accommodate up to 220 guests. The club features jazz music, as well as world music, blues, neo-soul, Latin jazz and afro-Cuban music. Yoshi s Jazz Club & Japanese Restaurant has organized performances by Dizzy Gillespie, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Harry Connick Jr. and Oscar Peterson. It has a nightclub that features two shows and offers cocktail and dining service throughout each show. Its restaurant serves a variety of salads, appetizers, entrees and a selection of wines, such as merlot, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc and zinfandel.
