“Familia” or family is at the heart of the American dream story of Cuca’s founder, and owner Refugio “Cuca” Johnson. Refugio “Cuca” Johnson was born in the small ranch community of El Magistral, Jalisco situated just two hours south of Guadalajara, Mexico. Cuca is one of eleven children and was by her parents to be generous and hard working. Cuca immigrated to the United States when she was 16 to find her work to help out her parents. Seeing the vast opportunities in the U.S. she helped all of her brothers and sisters immigrate also. She moved to Redlands from San Diego in 1976 with her husband and young family. Cuca cleaned houses and eventually started her own maid service. She always possessed the entrepreneurial spirit.
