Maruya offers Edomae interpretation of traditional Japanese sushi. We offer omakase courses. Maruya is one of the few sushi restaurants in the Bay Area that offers a variety of fish, some are local sourced and many are imported from Tsukiji Market, Tokyo.
The master chef takes many meticulous steps in preparing the fish both in curing and cutting the fish.
Master Chef Kawaguchi's interpretation of Edomae is deeply rooted in his Tokyo background. He began his sushi chef career in old downtown Tokyo, and he was a sushi chef at the Imperial Palace Hotel, Tokyo.
Food presentation is done in its simplicity. A subtle brush stroke of soy sauce on the fish is all its needed to enhance its flavor. The sushi bar counter is simple and handcrafted out of Cypress wood.
Accompanied with our sushi and sashimi are carefully selected sake as well as French and Italian wines. For special sake, please inquire. Restaurants
