The Cooperage Inn is within walking distance from the downtown Sonoma plaza, yet quiet and set back from the business area. This century-old building makes a charming home-away-from-home for travelers visiting Sonoma. Formerly an icehouse, brewery and cooperage built of stone in 1911 by Italian stonemasons, The Cooperage Inn has recently been transformed into two elegantly appointed, private suites. Owners and artists Ken and Claudia Wagar personally decorated each suite with paintings and antiques to create a European Renaissance feel. Their home is also part of the property and they have a private gallery and studios as well as a fine art and archival printing business called Flying Ink Press housed below the hotel. They are attentive and helpful hosts, while respecting the privacy and solace of their guests. In-suite massages and other body treatments can be arranged.
