Mr. Cooper has practiced law in California and the Federal Courts since 1979. He holds undergraduate degrees from the University of the Pacific in Legal Studies and History. Upon graduating college in 1976, Mr. Cooper immediately entered law school, and received his Juris Doctor Degree from the McGeorge School of Law in 1979. He immediately passed the Bar exam and began practicing law with his own law firm, emphasizing personal injury and insurance law. Mr. Cooper was raised in the San Joaquin Valley in California, the oldest child of working class parents. From an early age, he developed an intense desire to fight for justice, and his history and legal studies developed in him a keen interest and desire to fight for ordinary citizens against the insurance industry conglomerate. Personally witnessing and handling cases involving insurance companies trying to unfairly delay, deny and minimize payments to injured victims has over the years renewed Mr. Cooper’s commitment to justice for injured people. He has successfully recovered many millions of dollars on behalf of his clients over his career, and continues to this day his fight for justice against the insurance industry and its unearned and underserved privilege of wealth. In his now more than thirty-two years of representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases, Mr. Cooper has successfully tried and settled countless cases. He was one of the youngest lawyers to ever achieve not only a million dollar jury verdict, but million dollar settlements, as well. The successes earned Mr. Cooper entry into the very exclusive and select group of attorneys who have been received in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Mr. Cooper is the past president of the San Joaquin County Trial Lawyers Association, and has lectured and taught other lawyers trial and litigation strategies in handling cases in which insurance companies owe payments to injured people. Mr. Cooper is considered an expert in the personal injury field, and has been noted for his success in making insurance companies comply with the laws requiring them to act in good faith and to pay claims promptly and fairly to injured people. Sometimes referred to as the lawyer’s lawyer, Mr. Cooper is frequently consulted by other lawyers for advice in determining strategy to compel insurance companies to meet their obligations and pay claims they owe. Listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Mr. Cooper is licensed to practice before all courts in the state of California, as well as the Federal Courts, including the Federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Cooper is also one of a unique and select group of attorneys who are licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Recognition that Mr. Cooper has the ability to bring an insurance company’s misbehavior to the attention of appellate courts, including the highest court in the land, can persuade some companies to pay claims they had been determined to fight, and two appellate courts in California have even publicly commented on Mr. Cooper’s skill in winning trials. Mr. Cooper was one of the first lawyers to recognize and fight the junk science made up by the insurance industry consisting of so-called bio-mechanical engineers, who are routinely paid ridiculous sums by insurance companies to testify that people are not hurt in automobile accidents. He is dedicated to exposing this false field of science and protecting his clients. He has also pioneered the fight against the insurance company doctors who will sell themselves to the highest bidding insurance company, and testify that people these doctors have not even seen or examined did not suffer, or suffered little, injuries. These outrages are but a couple of examples of the many false and frivolous defenses that insurance companies concoct to justify not paying injured people.
