In approximately 1927 the Sandy Beach Resort was built, which is now the home of Spindle shanks. The existing fireplace (inside and out) warmed guests as they entered the hotel’s lobby and created a cozy gathering place for visitors outdoors in the summer evenings. The Resort also featured a restaurant and grocery store. At some point a soda fountain was added.
