He graduated from the University of the Philippines' School of Economics with a B.Sc. in Economics degree [ Cum Laude ; Awarded the Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence ] and from the Ateneo De Manila University's School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. He worked for several years as a Tax and Business Advisor for Arthur Andersen - Manila ( Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co. ), which was then the largest professional firm in the Philippines.
