In the early 1920s, Charles Rosenbaum made his debut in the Denver courts as a young Jewish attorney, but he could only try a case if he hired a Ku Klux Klan lawyer as co-counsel since, at that time, the Klan enjoyed political control over the state judiciary. Eventually, the corruption was weeded from the courts.
