Mitchell Farm was established in 1759, is the oldest working farm in Connecticut and sits on 500 acres in the rural outskirts of Southbury. The farm grows an impressive variety of fruits and vegetables including potatoes, melons, squash, honey, sweet corn, beets, broccoli, chili peppers, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, green beans, onions, pumpkins, tomatoes, zucchini and much more.  Customers can also purchase hay, firewood and mulch.  There are an array of herbs grown out of the greenhouse including thyme, parsley, rosemary, oregana, sage, basil and garlic, to name a few. This historic farm land also has a large section of its acreage adjacent to the peaceful Housatonic River.
