Proprietor and long time D.C. restaurateur Manuel Iguina, takes his Urban Latin roots with a menu that reaches back to the big cities of Latin America, seeking new regional spins. More than just Peruvian, Puerto Rican, or Mexican, Mio showcases the localized urban cuisine from Lima, San Juan or Distrito Federal. The traditional takes on a non-pretentious elegance and playful slant with signature dishes such as “Bacalaito Tempura Shrimp Salad”, or “MiniMoFo” –a savory, shrimp stew infused version of the world famous Puerto Rican “mofongo”.
