J & J Bar-B-Q owner John McKinney's father, Julius, founded the family-style restaurant in 1979. Julius and John learned everything there is to know about Southern cooking from John's grandfather, Anderson Carnegie. Father and son opened the current location in 1984 and it has been serving Bradenton and the surrounding area some of the finest Bar-B-Q to be found since. The family tradition remains, and the award-winning ribs and ox tail dinners continue to wow patrons.
