A true state-of-the-art martini bar, the Chic-A-Boom Room in Dunedin, Fla., is a deliberate bit of a throw-back, with bright abstracts on the walls painted in colors bordering on the day-glo. It is hard to feel down for long in a venue that serves two-dozen varieties of martinis. Its martinis have names and flavors, such as lemon drop, espresso yourself, almond joy, apples and Milky Way. More than half a dozen wines are sold by the glass or the bottle. Beers come bottled and on tap, and include a number from Dunedin's own microbrewery. Over the years, critics have raved about the Chic-A-Boom Room and its eclectically fun atmosphere.
