Opened in 1994 by husband and wife team, Patrick Farnault and Robin Seger, Sugar Reef is a colorful oasis of tropical charm complete with ocean breezes, swaying palms, turquoise water and wonderful food. Just south of Fort Lauderdale’s Port and north of the high-rise canyon lands of Miami Beach, one crosses an invisible line into old Florida – Hollywood Beach. The last bastion of laid back beach living, Hollywood Beach is an island only one block wide with an ocean front broadwalk that runs for over three miles. Small motels, restaurants, old beach houses…it’s almost a time warp… sweet sea breezes or gale force winds, we love it. It’s not corporate, no quota to meet, just the laid back feel of island life with great food, great wine with a great view.
