The main building was built in 1930 as a rooming house serving navy personnel stationed at Fort Zachary Taylor. Several adjacent buildings were added to the compound in the 1980’s that provide larger guest suites and cottages. Today the guesthouse includes ten original “rooming house” rooms and several king suites and cottages to comprise twenty guest units. Merlin is named after a local “Conch” named Merlin Albury, who was born in the Bahamas in 1884 and died in 1952 in Key West. The pool area provides a private and comfortable place to relax.
