Bank of America's history dates back to 1904 San Francisco, when founder Amadeo Giannini began the bank to cater to immigrants who were often not served by other banks. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, Giannini was fortunate enough to be able to use some rescued funds of his to offer loans from his home when other banks were in ruins.
