The Mighty Mushroom was the creation of Joyce Arbic in 1982. Joyce left her small hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend Florida Institute of Technology in the late 1970’s. As with many who come to the Melbourne area, she came to love it and upon graduation decided to make it her home and open her own pizza restaurant. Joyce had worked in a pizzeria since the age of 14 and knew a bit about making pizzas. With this experience and her degree in Aviation Technologies, the pizzas have been flying ever since.
