Deli Lane Cafe & Tavern have been in business for over 20 years, serving South Mami's best food at the best price.Jahn Kirchoff & Mike Maler have one of the most successful partnerships in the restaurant business. They met over 25 years ago while working together at The Depot restaurant in South Miami back in 1981 when they were 25 and 19 years of age. They collaborated in opening and operating Kelly's Seafood House, Kendall, Whistlers Caf and Bar, Cutler Ridge and and Charleston SC, Secrets of Kendall, and finally Marine Cuisine, West Kendall, before venturing out on their own and opening Deli Lane Caf, South Miami in August 1988.With a shoestring budget and a small loan from Jahn's parents, they opened Deli Lane Caf for 6 days a week serving lunch and dinner. Seating was limited at best. There was no budget for marketing so Deli Lane relied completely on word of mouth to survive. They fed relatively small but eager crowds, delighting them with a fresh delicious product at a reasonable price. People responded with great enthusiasm and their business, and loyal customer base, grew steadily. In 1992, Jahn & Mike opened the second Deli Lane Caf in the lobby of an office building in Brickell offering the same menu and delivery service. In 1996, the City of South Miami introduced the Hometown Plan of revitalization in South Miami using Dorn Avenue ( SW 59 Avenue ) as the prototype. They widened the sidewalks and created the cobblestone effect on the street. This gave way to Deli Lane Caf becoming the first restaurant in South Miami to offer outdoor seating for alfresco dining. Now offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, Deli Lane Caf has become the standard for the local South Miami residents. In 2001, Jahn & Mike purchased Your Father's Moustache and renovated the space creating Sunset Tavern Sports Bar. This dynamic pair has always operated all three of their businesses with a hands on approach - taking great pride in their food and the atmosphere. They hope their personal attention translates in a great dining experience.
