An 18-year-old Athens staple, the BBQ Shack is owned and operated by longtime Athenian Mary Hart. The Shack serves delicious barbeque chicken, pork and rib plates. All meals are served with cole slaw, stew, chips and bread. For dessert, it is famous for its creamy banana pudding. Dine-in, as well as to-go orders, are accepted. All products are available in bulk so customers can take home extra servings. The inside of the restaurant is spacious with two main dining rooms of tables covered in picnic tablecloths. The BBQ Shack has limited hours so plan the trip accordingly.
