Tlaloc is not your everyday Mexican eatery. Although it does have the standard Mexican-American fare that is standard north of the Rio Grande, Tlaloc features a wide variety of lesser known Mexican and El Salvadorian specialties that will expand one's culinary horizons. One such item is the pupusa--a thick and doughy baked corn pocket stuffed with beans, cheese or your choice of meat. Another such item is the Torta de Pambazo, a sausage and potato sandwich with bread that is fried with salsa spices. The restaurant is open in the morning serving several varieties of cooked eggs--or heuvos. Another noteworthy aspect of Tlaloc's menu is the plentiful amount of seafood options. Owner Antonio Ramirez would like all to know that nothing comes shipped in cans; it's all made fresh. The wait staff is quite friendly. The decor is simple, but the space is nicely maintained. There's even a jukebox that plays Latino music.
