Having made a name for himself in the world of wrestling, Abdullah the Butcher also is making a mark on Southwest Atlanta. The professional wrestler, who is semi-retired now in his more mature years, has operated Abdullah the Butcher House of Ribs & Chinese Food since 1994. The popular eatery offers a diverse menu of veggie plates, including collard and turnip greens, fish, Chinese food, sandwiches, barbecue chicken and ribs. Among the Chinese entrees are sweet and sour chicken, garlic chicken and Mongolian beef.

"We have soul food," says Abdullah (real name: Larry Shreve). "We have Chinese. We have everything." He adds that the community support has been tremendous since the restaurant's opening. "Just like they supported me in the wrestling business, they've supported me with my restaurant."

Pay a visit to the restaurant and you'll find walls lined with memorabilia such as photos from Abdullah's decades of wrestling. You're also likely to see Abdullah's sister and adult son, or the restaurant's manager, Miguel Lopez, working.
