The United States, Europe, Australia and a number of other countries are well into the process of a coordinated, worldwide infrastructure change from the current ground-based ATC system to a satellite-based ATC system known as the Next Generation Air Transportation System ( NextGen ). The WNS Holdings patent portfolio is directed to aspects of the trans-oceanic satellite-based ATC system known as ADS-C, the territorial ATC system known as ADS-B, cockpit display systems known as CDTI used to display the locations and headings of aircraft on cockpit displays within the aircraft, and position reporting emergency location transmitters known as ELTs. ADS-B, ADS-C and CDTI are the central aircraft-based components of the NextGen ATC system that will be used for virtually all NextGen safety and efficiency improvement initiatives.
