Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor actively support the Atlanta and Marietta communities - it's a huge part of our family law firm's culture. While our day to day work is primarily focused on our Atlanta family law practice, we strive to make our community better through individual efforts and team-building company events. Mary Stearns-Montgomery served as part of the 2010 Auction Committee the American Cancer Society's 37th Annual Swordsman's Ball in Marietta, GA. The event, held in August of 2010 at the Cobb Galleria Centre, was a spectacular tribute to those who work tirelessly on cancer research. The event also served as a stoic reminder of who have succumbed to this terrible disease. Ms. Stearns-Montgomery's auction was called The Funhouse. She dedicated an auction table to children of all ages in keeping with this year's theme of Three Rings of Fun, One Night for the Cure. With help from the Firm's associates and their family members, the display was eye-catching and well-bid. Stearns-Montgomery & Proctor appreciates the opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause, and we will continue to support the men and women who tirelessly work to develop cancer cures and treatments. The Cobb Justice Foundation, a program of Legal Aid of Cobb County and Cobb County Bar Association, is the pro bono project of Cobb County, GA. The Cobb Justice Foundation refers civil legal matters of low-income residents to private attorneys for pro bono representation. The ABA Model Rules governing lawyers call us to perform fifty hours a year of service free of charge, but lawyers volunteering through Cobb Justice find so many other reasons to volunteer. Year after year, Cobb County lawyers are able to help the disadvantaged of the community with their civil legal issues. The work it is challenging, rewarding, motivating, and even fun. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is one of the world's leading children's charities, with 65 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25, 000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 193, 000 wishes in the United States since its inception.
