Ankeny First United Methodist Church is a multi-site congregation of around 2,500 members. The Christian Life Center is one of three buildings the Ankeny FUMC occupies in Ankeny. The focus at the Christian Life Center is recreational ministry, with full size gym offering a variety of non-competitive leagues for children, family-friendly events, and large space for youth ministry.  Contemporary worship is the focus at the Christian Life Center.

The mission of Ankeny First United Methodist Church is to be an open and inviting community of faith through which God grows deeply committed Christians. The church advances this mission by connecting people with God through prayer, worship, scripture study, Christian fellowship, sacraments, and service (traditional Wesleyan "means of grace").
