The Northside Tavern attracts a steady stream of regulars, but the appeal of this saloon extends far beyond the folks who have favorite barstools on the premises. The tavern has been the set for several films, commercials and music videos including "Daddy's Little Girls" and "Stomp the Yard." Blues musicians perform here on Fridays and Saturdays, the only time a cover charge applies, a facet of the tavern emphasized by the wall of blues portraits behind the small stage. A recent ABC Family production that filmed here draped the place in Mardi Gras beads and other New Orleans frippery, and the owners have kept it all in place. The Northside Tavern prides itself on having won multiple awards as best dive bar, and like any great dive, it is soaking in what many a corporate bar craves in vain: character.
