Frank Smith Law Office was founded by Frank Murray Smith in 1980 as a general practice firm. Prior to 1980, Frank Smith practiced with the firm of Sutton, Nielson & Smith P.C Frank Smith Obtained his undergraduate degree in public administration ( 1972 ) and his law degree ( 1976 ) from Drake University. He has been licensed in all courts in Iowa since 1976 and a general practice including the areas of municipal law ( particularly matters involving annexation, urban planning, rural water issues and land use development issues ), real estate, Wills Trusts and Estates ( particularly matters involving estate planning, probate, powers of attorney and will contest issues ), personal injury ( particularly matters involving wrongful death and substantiated medical malpractice claims ), Litigation ( particularly matters involving condemnation and real estate issues ). In addition to his law practice, Frank Smith has been involved in many community activities including serving 8 years on the Polk County Board of Adjustment and 9 years on the Southeast Polk School Board. Frank Smith's sons Tyler and Jessman joined the practice in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Tyler is a 2003 University of Iowa Law School graduate with distinction and clerked for judges of the Fifth Judicial District before joining the practice. Jessman is a 2007 Drake Law School graduate and was an All-American wrestler for the University of Iowa while obtaining his undergraduate degrees.
