Visitors to Via Lima won’t need their passports, but will want to bring their appetites as they embark on a whirlwind culinary tour through the Peruvian inspired menu. The restaurant is the creation of owner Eni Cadena and is a tribute to her late mother, Teresa. It was in her mother’s home kitchen, where traditional Peruvian cuisines were labored and finessed. Eni is proud and excited to bring Peruvian cuisine to Chicago’s North Center community. Guest will experience contemporized Peruvian mainstays such as ceviches, lomo saltado (stir-fried steak) and aji de gallina (chili pepper chicken). In addition to a wide selection of wine and local beers, Via Lima’s bar offers a dozen cocktails made with pisco, a Peruvian brandy. The restaurant’s dishes have a rich history taking disparate cultural influences from the many migrants of Europe, Asia and Africa through -- or via -- Lima.
