In 1901, Simon Anderson purchased a milk route for $100 in St. Charles, Ill. Anderson grew his milk business into a full dairy, complemented by the production of ice cream. He shifted to the retail business in 1958 with several ice cream shops that grew into a chain of full-service restaurants, known as Colonial Caf . The restaurants serve a variety of crepes, including Swedish, cinnamon apple and berry blast varieties. It also offers turkey chops, sesame chicken, citrus chicken tango, and salads for lunch and dinner. Colonial Caf s seafood menu features grilled Atlantic salmon, fish, chips, and mango and blackened tilapia. The restaurant specializes in a variety of omelets, including chorizo, Swiss mushroom, fresh veggie, spinach and tomato. Colonial Caf is famous for its varieties of ice cream. It maintains a location in St. Charles, Ill.
