Founded in 1949 by a Northwestern University graduate, Charcoal Oven retains the 1950s decor and ambiance of the old days, along with formidable steaks, chops and seafood. An old-fashioned bar remains as well, offering unique cocktails that promise a trip to the bar before you're seated. Meals range from Greek chicken and calve's liver to meaty steaks and shish kebab. This blast from the past even has its own iPhone app.
