William R. Leary William R. Leary is the Executive Director of the Louisiana Lawyers Assistance Program, Inc of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Leary coordinates the efforts of the Committee on Alcohol and Drub Abuse of the Louisiana State Bar Association. A lawyer, Leary is a Board Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and a Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor. He has written and lectured extensively on the work of LAPs, substance abuse and gambling addiction in the legal profession. Mr. Leary is a past member of the Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs of the American Bar Association, and is presently a member of the Advisory commission to the Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs. He also presently serves on the Practice Assistance and Improvement Committee of the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Leary is assisted by Kathleen H. Leary, who is a Board Certified Employee Assistance Professional, a Board Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and a Board Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor. Mrs. Leary is the founder of the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council for South Louisiana, Houma, Louisiana, and currently serves on the Governor's Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, State of Louisiana. Mrs. Leary volunteers her time in assisting her husband, Bill Leary, with his work for the Louisiana Lawyers Assistance Program, Inc by answering calls on the hotline, arranging interventions and monitoring the quality and appropriateness of treatment facilities.
