The Boston Bar Association is a volunteer organization of approximately 9,500 legal professionals who collaborate to provide services to the government and the public. In the past, it has made public policy suggestions on subjects such as preventing wrongful convictions, the consequences of judiciary budget cuts, under-representation of minorities in jury pools and institutional discrimination against gays and lesbians. The Association also issues a quarterly periodical and offers a lawyer referral service to the public. It is located in the historic Chester Harding House, built in the Federal style in 1808.
