There has been a bar at PJ Ryan's location since at least the 1950's. In 1999 Conor Brennan and Kenneth Kelly opened PJ Ryan's they completely transformed the space that had been the Station Cafe. They revealed the original tin ceiling and brick wall, added Mahogony Koa hard wood floor, and installed as a barback a 1930's pharmacy counter.
