Catering to the local Brazilian community, SCOM offers check cashing, cash advances, calling cards, money orders, Brazilian music and travel arrangements.  There is a large staff whose skills are specialized to each category, but Portuguese and Spanish are the only languages spoken.  SCOM shares its floor space with Ipanema Moving Company, which maintains a desk within SCOM and has an entrance at the rear of the store on Somerville Ave.
