Now a division of Sovereign Bank, this architecturally beautiful building—known to many as "Stone Bank"—is steeped in Vineyard history and has been used as a bank since it opened 1905. It is located on the far end of Main Street's business district, across from the Waterside Market and next to The Green Room. The Bank of Martha's Vineyward occupies the main structure; an additional building houses the loan department with drive-thru/walk-up and an ATM, all with views to the ocean.

Interior photos are not allowed, but those with an affinity for beautiful details should visit this branch. Customers are greeted by a huge, old-fashioned walk-in safe that now houses safety deposit boxes while a Grandfather clock reigns over chairs outside the branch manager's office. Both stained glass windows and an ornate chandelier keep a watchful eye from above the spacious main lobby area, and classically styled Vineyard paintings and drawings by local artists adorn the walls. With friendly tellers lining either side of the room, a coin-counting machine and all the financial services and products one would expect, this bank is a popular one on the Vineyard.
