John F. Kennedy Airport JFK one of New York City’s three large area airports. JFK Airport is situated approximately 12 miles to the southeast of Manhattan. Currently, it is the 6th busiest airport in the United State and the 17th busiest in the world. It is the airport that handles the most international traffic in North America. Originally, it was known as New York International Airport up until 1963 when it was renamed in honor of John F. Kennedy, the President of the United States. Getting to and from JFK International Airport has never been easier with public transit with the AirTrain service or the NYC subway.  Take the “A” train to Lower Manhattan and the “E” train to Midtown Manhattan.
