Gilberts has a hearty northern Michigan feel to it, from the outdoor family dining area to the Trophy Room for retirement parties and other special occasions. The party room, reserved for a $100 deposit, seats up to 80 people. The restaurant is loud, with chatter and laughter at night; voices from patrons can be heard across the street at the place where rapper Eminem once worked as a bus boy. The menu is eclectic and affordable. TVs usually have a game on, and you can choose from six draft beers and 29 different types of bottled beers, from Samuel Adams to Heineken Light and Molson Canadian. The staff is gregarious and aim to please.
