Our early beginnings A small group of educators with $856 in assets founded Extra Credit Union in 1954. They actually worked in an unused high school classroom. Through a commitment to education, community, and service, ECU grew, and today, has more than 19,000 members, with some $193 million in assets. Serving the community Extra Credit Union is known for its heart to serve through offering help, guidance, counsel, and programs for the entire community. We operate two full-service branches, which includes our state-of-the-art headquarters in Warren and our Sterling Heights branch location.
