West Bloomfield Fire Department protects an area of more than 35-square-miles, with over five fire stations staffed with full-time firefighters. It protects the lives and property of the residents of West Bloomfield, Mich., from the adverse effects of fires, medical emergencies and other dangerous conditions through mitigation, prevention, training and educational programs. The fire department has five emergency medical service units. On instructions from an emergency room doctor, the paramedics bring the emergency room of the hospital out into the field, and provide initial care and stabilization of the person who is experiencing difficulty.
