The Modern Café is located in a charming nook of Northeast Minneapolis, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. Known in the 1940s as Rabatin's Northeast CafŽ, neighborhood guy Jim Grell turned it "modern" in 1994. Over the years, the Modern Café evolved from blue-collar diner to hip, art-scene café with refined, classic American dishes. The Modern is a retro space with a sense of humor.Today, under the watchful eye of Chef Jim Grell, the Modern offers seasonal menus inspired by local, sustainable, and organic ingredients. Quality wines are always on hand at the Modern Café, and now that we've scored a full liquor license, classic cocktails are available as well.
