Operational for more than 20 years, The Cookie Cart is a nonprofit organization that offers youths with opportunities to develop life, leadership and employment skills. It provides opportunities for teenagers in Minnesota to gain transferable employment and interpersonal skills. The organization offers the 360 Degrees Program, which features classes on money management and interviewing skills. The Cookie Cart administers a bakery program that includes problem solving, teamwork, time management, work behavior and language skills development instruction for youths between the ages of 14 and 17. It collaborates with Minneapolis Public Schools and provides on-the-job training for secondary students between the ages of 18 and 21 with various educational disabilities. The Cookie Cart is funded by businesses, foundations and individuals. Its retail bakery offers a range of chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin cookies.
