Other Details:
One of the most popular guests of The Seville Hotel was the incomparable Benny Melton, nationally recognized as one of the top burlesque Emcees and singers to play the burlesque circuit. With his unique style and beautiful singing voice, he was in high demand all over the country, but always made time to play at the famous Alvin Theater in his hometown of Minneapolis. Benny was a personal favorite of the top exotic burlesque entertainers of that era. If Gypsy Rose Lee, Sally Rand, or Tempest Storm were performing at the Alvin, you could be sure they were seated next to Benny at The Seville bar or piano sipping martinis and belting out the standards of the day. Ironically, the new Seville is now owned and operated by Dino Perlman the great grand nephew of Benny Melton. Dino is as much a key figure in the Minneapolis entertainment scene of today, as was his great uncle.
